There used to be a joke that you know you've owned a Jag too long when the guy at the parts house is listed as a dependent on your income tax form. But since being taken over by the Ford Motor Company in 1989, Jaguar, has improved its reliability with an aggressive Quality Assurance program to offer the San Diego used Jaguar customer a great way to buy a luxury automobile ....without having to push it home.
The XJ-series was for years the flagship of the Jaguar brand and nothing has changed.. except for a 6.0L V12 engine, sport suspension, and 17inch tires to go along with that sleek, classic design. If you're wanting something a little sportier to drive the streets of La Jolla, you might look at a used Jaguar XK8, with its smooth body inspired from the old Jaguar sports cars of the 60's. But this is no relic of the past, with its Aluminum Unit V8 engine and Automatic Stability Control which helps maintain traction in slippery conditions (i.e.; you were going too fast.) Times have changed and the Jaguar has changed along with them.
There are a number of great Jaguar dealers in San Diego. A couple really good ones are Cush Jaguar in Kearny Mesa (5202 Kearny Mesa Rd. 858-541-0200) and Ball Automotive in National City (1935 National City Blvd. 619-477-3320) They can help you find that pre-owned Jaguar you've been looking for..and they probably know a good Jaguar joke or two.
